It says you are not taking it serious and why should anyone else take you serious. Finish what you start. You will see a difference in how you are treated.

Everybody with a camera is not a photographer. Please make sure you are getting what you pay for. Don't just assume because he or she has a camera and lights he or she can take great photos.

Take your own money and travel outside your city. Network and meet people. This can lead to great opportunities.

Many times we think modeling is just showing up to take pictures. It is a lot more than that. You must get as much knowledge as you can. Learn to have patience and focus. Many people allow modeling to get the frustrated. It will not happen overnight. It will take some work. You are not going to get discovered today and be famous tomorrow.

This will save you time and some great pictures. Sometimes more eyes will make sure that certain things are in place to make sure you get a great picture. Just you and a photographer could create pics that you could regret. Take some other eyes.

• Don't bring the whole family. • Don't bring strollers; they take up too much room. • Don't hover over your child as the photographer is working with him or her. The casting director wants to see that your child is able to separate from you.

Don't attach your press quotes unless asked. Make sure your headshot/resume is no large than 8 1/2" by 11". This will fit into a folder. If the headshot is oversized, it may end up in the trash.

Know something about the fashion industry. If you’re going to be a model, it’s very helpful to know what you’ll be dealing with in the industry. One of the reasons Yoanna won season 2 and Melrose placed second last season was because they knew a lot about the fashion industry. They knew about other models, designers, and the magazines they could be appearing in. If you want to be a model but know nothing about modeling, the judges might not think you’re really serious about your desires.

While the modeling world is an exciting and potentially profitable opportunity for young people, it can also be a dangerous one for the naive and inexperienced. This is where you need to really trust your mentors to watch out for your safety.

It is really important that you learn how to behave professionally when you are being interviewed or working with photo-shoot crews. Be polite and respectful and learn all that you can.
